This was an amazing story. The characters created by Silvey were rich and complex but believable characters. I found the story gripping me from the very beginning, and could not put this book down for 3 days, until I had devoured the entire story. The author weaves the story of Charlie and Jasper with such an Australian feel to it, I just loved every page. It was full of Australian humour and colloquialisms and the characters in the book were so lovable, in particular Jeffrey Lu. It was a shame he wasn't the main character in this book, perhaps Silvey would consider a spin off book with Jeffrey the star?? I absolutely loved this book, and will definitely pull it off the shelf and read it again in a few years time. This will no doubt be an Australian classic. It is no wonder it won awards!
