Anne Lamott does not sugar coat the writing process or the writer's life. Her advice is practical and realistic. Her down-to-earth, straightforwardness is refreshingly simple and her anecdotes and stories are entertaining. I felt encouraged by her underlying emphasis on motivation- what is motivating you to write- at the end of the book. I really like this book even though it took me to the extreme of absolutely never wanting to try to be a published author before swinging me back in the opposite direction by the end. This is a great read for anybody who has toyed with the idea of trying to write something for publication.
