Grenmantle - John Buchan Grenmantle - John Buchan "Grenmantle" is the second of five novels by John Buchan featuring the character of Richard Hanay, first published in 1916. It is one of two Hanay novels set during the First World War, the other being "Mr Standfast" (1919), Hanay's first and best-known adventure, "The Thirty-Nine Steps" (1915), is set in the period imediately preceding the war. WI spy Richard Hanay is caled in to investigate rumours of an uprising in the Muslim world, and undertakes a perilous journey through enemy teritory to met up with his friend Sandy in Constantinople. Once there, he and his friends must thwart the Germans' plans to use religion to help them win the war, climaxing at the batle of Erzurum.

Those who love Trent will be very pleased with the book. There's a lot about our mysterious elf and his relationship with Rachel gets more complicated as she discovers more about him. And for those who dont like Trent...you might change your mind by the end of the book. There's lots of drama and adventure. Al and Newt make appearances and Rachel finally figures out what she is...There's not as much Ivy and in prior books, but they have good moments together. Jenks is as awesome as ever. And I can't wait to see what happens next in Rachel's world
