As Zoey Redbird learns to control her powers as a vampire, she faces some dangers. Her life is going as she wants it for once in her life she really feels as though she belongs and she finally has a boyfriends she can trust. But those she loves in the human world are being threatend by vampires and all the clues being left behind point to The House of Night. Unfortunatelly Zoey has to face the possiblity that one of her boyfriends is killing as a vampire would. Zoey has to make a choice between those she loves and those who are trying to destroy the world around her. But when she least expects it she looses someone close to her, it's so sudden that Zoey is stunned out of her mind. Zoey doesn't have time to face everything that has happened because the killer is still out there in the world killing the people from her old life. As she struggles with herself and her complicated life she must face the betrayal of someone close to her. When she does she discovers that you really don't know the people you live around with. Zoey learns what it means to loose trust in someone she loves. But Zoey goes on and finally excepts that sometimes evil takes the form of something not likely to happen to anyone.
