Character Jamie Taylor – The guy with the personality to match the lovely face he has. Works at what he loves and he loves everyone he works with – and they love him right back – some more than others. Grant Stevens – Feeling low and dishearten by the turn his life has taken, he is alone and feeling it – when a miracle happen, he’s not even sure what was happening – he only knows he has to hold on and never let go. The Plot Jamie Taylor works as a tech in a rehabilitation facility and not only does he loves his job, but the patient and staff absolutely adores Jamie. Jamie has a special affinity to the people who come into the centre broken and in need of that bit of positivity to get them through their day. With his ever present optimism in place he meets one of the newest arrivals at the centre, who was not taking the changes in his life all that well. Jamie being Jamie – push and prod but always remembering that Grant Stevens is a man with pride and this is more or less a bump in the road for him – he just needs to get with the program and get back on his feet. During Grants stay at the facility Grant develops a friendship with Jamie that somehow feels like more. When Jamie reciprocates his feelings, he is a happy man. Grant is carting around his own set of baggage and meeting Jamie feels like the best thing to have happened to him in a long time. Not all is well in their world however, as someone is out to not only get Jamie but to hurt as many people as they can in the process. Surprise Element The book starts off easy enough but i have to admit the pace surprise me alot – it was so well pace, so full on that by about a third in that i almost miss some of the major details of the book. I love a book that just holds you and shake you up before the end. Predictability Yes there was some predictability, cute, nice guy meets lonely broken or broken hearted man with some sort of evil lurking in the mist – with me so far. Ms. Milles steps right in then and she gives it her all – the fine print are so distinct, they are accurate and she deals with a whole slew of issues that really makes this book a wonderful read. Smut/Ick Factor As always not enough, the good thing about the smut in this is that it was a built up process – there was too much going on and the guys had a level of integrity to them that i am very pleased that they dealt with other issues before they got their smut on. The scenes themselves are hot and too few in my opinion – these two have a genuine chemistry between them Positive LOVE, JAMIE is a thought provoking book that shows not only the strength of Ms. Miles writing but also the intensity of her imagination. Jamie is a lovable character wanting only the best for the patient he interacts with daily, some he wraps up in cotton wool while others he is aware enough to push just that little harder. When he meets Grant, it is an eye-opening experience for him and he makes the most of it and his upfront and honesty about his feelings from the moment he becomes aware of what is happening between them is refreshing. Grant feels lost, not only is he flat on his back but he is alone. Jamie gives him that stability that he was desperately in need of and it is a process that was nicely written. This was really a short read – but the pace was so perfect – slow at the beginning and then it picks up and not in a madding rush either – but at a steady pace that definately kept me interested. The mystery was not bad either – the bad guy was so creepy and I thought the description of him was well done as well – you really had to hate him. The support characters were lively and loveable – there was a cross section of people that really made the difference to this book and also shows the author strength in mixing and matching characters together to get the perfect blend. The issues dealt with in this book are some of the usual (loneliness, fear, ugly undercurrent, privacy issues etc) – they are ugly and there are alot of destruction, but with the pace, the characters and the main focus being on the relationship, i really like how Ms. Miles worked it – lots of food for thought. The highlight of the book for me was really the development of Grant’s character, his journey to finding himself was not only heartfelt but very emotional as well. LOVE, JAMIE is a must read, new readers to AKM Miles works you will be pleasantly surprised. Readers following her work – this is another brilliant production from Ms. Miles. Negative The mystery was a little bit stilted in places, however as that was not the key focus of the book – it took nothing away from the growth of grant as a person and the development of their relationship. Cover I like a lot – big strapping guy with lots of body parts showing – what’s not to like.. http://erotichorizon.blogspot.com/200...
