Chick lit pure and simple.
This book is reads very much like Hart's Hope (for you OSC fans). The language is poetic, which can become a bit tedious at times. However, the poetry isn't there just to "sound pretty". Rather the language of the fable helps set the tone in which it should be read. While it isn't good for "light entertainment", the artistry in the book is impressive. It is one of those things you read that leaves you with a sense of awe - and the distinct impression that the work was crafted instead of merely written.
