This book centers on the idea that one choice can change your entire life and the lives of everyone around it. It tracks the life of a man who gives up one of his newborn twins because she is born with Down Syndrome. The book follows the aftermath of this decision for 25 years. It started off a little slow but then I got really into it and then I just wanted it to end. It drags on and gets a little redundant with driving home the idea that this one choice changed everyone’s lives. Overall I enjoyed and would recommend it if you like lifetime movies.

This book is light, fun, smart, and everything else you expect from a Neal Stephenson book. Admittedly, upon rereading it, it makes FAR more sense after you've taken a little genetics and organic chemistry, but I don't remember being confused the first time I read it either. That's something Stephenson does really well: he writes intellectual stuff so that you feel smarter, not dumber while reading. The main character, S.T., is a ton of fun to hang out with. The story bounces along, the characters are so real you could swear you'd run into them somewhere, and Boston is so lovingly rendered that it makes you homesick.
