An enjoyable account of the author's experiences as a black girl growing up in a white world, and then in Spain; it was an easy read, thoughtful, but not really deep, and occasionally seemed a little self-occupied, and self-indulgent to me. But then again, I am glad to admit that I cannot know what it is like to be a minority in America, or Spain, or how race-awareness permeates every aspect of life.
This book was great. I haven't read a book like it before. At first the character drove me craze with all the stupid things that she did. But I grew to love her and hoped she would have more adventures.
