I liked this better than the last one - I read a review that said it was too talky, and while there were definitely elements of that, I found it the most compelling, emotionally, so far.

I thought this book was beautiful! I loved the characters, the writing and the story. I was amazed at the way characterization and plot could be revealed through letters. I also enjoyed learning about the occupation of the Channel Islands during WWII, yet another piece of history I had been completely ignorant about. The book reminded me of another favorite, 84 Charing Cross Road, with a similar setting and format. Highly recommended.
