Non-fiction that reads like fiction, and is funny
I think it was Kris who recommended this book to me! It was slow at the beginning- and the only thing that really irritated me is that the main character never has a name besides the Second Mrs. Maxim de Winter. I did like the author's writing style- written in 1938- impressive. I could really feel the oppression of her being the companion in the beginning- and this book drives home the theme of not paying attention to the wrong things in your life- focusing on strengths rather than weaknesses... and literally just being the best you can be- who CARES about Rebecca!! I think the plot really got interesting after page 250... but the ending made me wonder if there is a sequel? The character of Mrs. Danvers was so psycho that I was hoping she would get canned after the whole costume incident- which I totally saw coming. An interesting read.
