2 and a half Interesting topic--obviously with a movie on the topic winning the Academy Award this year! But the book was not the basis for the movie (note the screen play was nominated for original screenplay--not one based on something that exists)--but instead the author was inspired by the research done for the movie to put this book together. It is just very dry.

In the 1800s two rival magicians engaged in a "game" which must end in the other's death become starcrossed lovers while travelling with a circus that only comes out at night. Throughly enchanting and original.
