This book is one of those that you wait for the punch line; and it just so happens that the punchline is pretty decent. Most of the novel is asinine and trivial, much like books IV and V. But there are some points that are exciting, and the eventual show down between the Time Transcendent Lovers (and Moiraine) is good enough to read if you've already gotten up to book V and not burned every copy of the book that you see.
A fun, though ultimately largely empty, volume in the Madman universe. The best stories are the latter two, starring Spaceman (a great Hanna Barbera pastiche) and It Girl (probably my favorite Madman character outside of Frank and Zapman).
Okay, so I cannot properly articulate how basically these books got me into Stanford. You are especially less likely to believe me after reading that sentence. Seriously--the American Girls collections (and, well, the Molly Doll) made super curious about history. My daughters will read these books (oh yes they will.).
