Though I don't remember too much about this book, I do remember how captivating it was, and how well Lowry mesmerizes you while simultaneously creating an extremely repulsive society within these pages. Read it now. It's amazing.

Is Fitzgerald writing a parody of something, or is there some secret meaning to this story? It was very funny, but almost edgy, as if there were some tension under the surface of the story.

Good for what it is-a police procedural mystery. Not pretending to be great literature.
