Mr. Pollan I think enjoys listening to himself pontificate a bit too much. I just wanted to read a book about making a garden. All in all, I'd say it was boring, a slow read, but had some good bits.
This book is a difficult read as in it is disturbing. But it is a story that must be told and a voice that must be heard. Although it is too late to help her and others like her, there are many lessons to be learned from her and the other undaunted prisoners. Spies. Torture. Irrationality. These prisoners long for execution. The cruel treatment of prisoners in Heba Dabbagh's book is unfathomable and her story is one of true courage and faith in God that keeps her alive. Throughout the book, her courage and determination to live is unwavering. Beautifully written.
