Lovely, old-school fantasy for kids. Its a surprising gem of a book.
Having worked in publishing, I understood firsthand what Andrea Sachs went through in the madhouse surrounding her with an unbearable boss, impossible deadlines and coworkers who never knew what it was like to rummage through a sale rack. Nonetheless, I found myself getting annoyed with her character and how quickly her surroundings changed her as a person. I did not end up caring for Andrea throughout the book and lost interest in her endless rants about her ridiculous boss and how she lost control of her personal relationships. It's a good book for the beach and it'll definitely keep you interested if you ever wanted to know what it's like to work in fashion and/or publishing. As absurd as some parts of the story may seem, it is definitely true in this cut-throat industry - I'm glad someone had the guts to write about it!
