I say I read this in February 2002, that was the first time I read it. I rarely find a book that I can read more than once but this stands up very well. The Crow Road was the first book I found that incorporated all the main aspects of being human. The BBC dramatisation focuses on the "mystery" element whereas, when I read the book I saw that as kind of a sub-plot to the story of a character's life over a fairly short period. The book principally follows Prentice who is trying to create and identity and make sense of life (and death) for himself; whether through family, love or religion. It doesn't seek to provide answers but it provides ideas to think about for yourself just as much as for the characters. The themes are universal and I think that is what makes it a book that can be read many times and enjoyed by many different people.
