I preferred The Rock Orchard. But even so, what a fun read. A true storyteller with a gift for turning a phrase.
BEST. VOCABULARY. EVER. I am in awe of this man's vast knowledge of the English language. And the world he creates in this trilogy was the Elsewhere I needed to escape to at a not very nice time in my life. Great books for many reasons.
Its funny the stuff that you don't know about that is so interesting and you really should know it. This book is all that.
It was mostly enjoyable, but it wasn't my favorite. I thought the plot was a bit disjointed and several of the plot points were not very well-developed and left me feeling a bit "so what?" I had the first plot point figured out very early, but I'm not sure if it was because it was obvious or because that's the way I would have written it.
