Better than the Icewind Dale series, this trilogy focuses on the early years of the drow Drizzt Do'Urden, standing as a prequel for Salvatore's first series. The heavy-handed morality play becomes tiresome occasionally, as well as the angsty tone of the second and third books. Nevertheless, they are still entertaining and decently written, and worth the time for fans of either the other series, or of the Forgotten Realms setting.

Fun, quick read about dealing with the changes that come with growing up. There's a fantastical element in that children in this family are hit with a magic-like ability -- or savvy -- on their thirteenth birthday, adding to the difficulties of becoming teenagers. That said, I wouldn't really consider it well within the fantasy genre. I loved the cast of characters. It'd be fun to meet the Beaumonts.

This is the story of America's first financial crisis during the Federalist period right after the Revolutionary War. It sounded somewhat boring but turned out to be a fascinating tale told in two voices, one a disgraced spy from the War and the other a woman who, with her husband, began to carve out a new life in the West. These two characters are fictional, but many others are familiar names from history: Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr, and George Washington, to name a few. The plot has many twists and turns throughout and gains such momentum toward the end, that it was hard to put down. It also is surprisingly humorous! It was interesting to discover that manipulation of markets and the precarious situation greedy investors many times cause have been with us since the inception of our nation.
