Also for my online lit class. This was set during the Atlanta childhood murders that occurred in '79-'81. The murders were all of black children within relatively the same age and most came from one elementary school. Many believe that the man they convicted was the wrong one and that the murders were racially motivated. The book was written in three parts and all concentrate on three children who attend the same elementary school. Each part is written in a different narrative style (first section was 3rd person, 2nd in 2nd, and third in 1st person). The book wasn't necessarily focused on the murders per se; like there was no attempt to solve it and there wasn't any relationship between an abductor and a child. It was focused on their daily lives considering and despite of what was happening in their community. I liked Octavia's story the best.

Interesting look at the noir genre. the stories get too common if you have seen or read a lot of noir before. Favorite story: goldfish
