The most satisfying thing about Some Girls Are is the fact that Regina isn’t afraid to retaliate when she’s being bullied. We’ve all read those books where the protagonist just takes all the crap people throw at them, roll over and play dead, act like total doormats, and while the right thing to do is not fuel the fire or show the bullies a reaction, there’s something sickeningly sweet about Regina’s moments of retaliation. I thought the entire story was really believable, especially everyone’s hate for her, even those she tries to apologize to—no one is willing to accept her after what she’s done to them, and I think that’s what makes this story very real. Even when she begins to make a friend, Regina is still so alone.
