Wow, I am really impressed with this book. I wish I had read it a long time ago. I had heard of it often and was interested in reading it, but just never got around to it. The plot for this book was fascinating and certainly something that has been revisited in other ways in books that alternative histories. I am sure that from the perspective of when he wrote the book, many of the events described in the alternate history must have been feasibly true. In a way, though, we are presented with many different timelines - the book, the book within a book, and our own timeline. Considering how those three are plausible and may overlap requires some contemplation, but the implications are stunning. Where would be had the pivotal timeline changing event occurred? I would highly recommend this book to anyone interested in Science Fiction, History, and Alternate History.
