I'm taking a break from this book right now because it is basically the grossest book ever. I kind of like it and oftentimes I find the writing and diverse narrators interesting and clever, but it is kind of like it's having a contest with itself to see which of its narrators can make me barf-out the worst while I'm trying to listen to it during my commute. Also, the main narrator has a sleepy quality to his voice which is making me tired during my commute to the point of almost falling asleep at the wheel (not out of boredom, but out of lulling)...but then also it's so gross. If you want me to be more specific, I won't right now, but just think of something totally gross and then that's in there. Fine, for example, gross stuff with feet, intestines sucked out of a butt while masturbating at the bottom of a pool, and then almost suffocating at the same time, amputation, and child sex dolls, and many more on channel 4. Like way too much extremely gross action for one book. At the same time, I kind of just want to finish it, clever satire that it is, but I'm kind of like, dude, maybe not. Only time will tell.
This book included very factual information about my research project on the United Kingdom, This book included very important people mainly Artist and other politicains that had a very good impact in Londons' early history. This book also had very detailed maps of how London was built throughout the early 1700's. Peter Ackroyd did a great job on explaining how the culture and religion was like from the 1600's up to now. So if anyone is looking for a book about Londons' history, this is the one!
