A delightful short read about two boys exiled to the countryside who find a suitcase of books. Tragic. Review addendum: Hey, I really loved this book while I was reading it, but just finshed Reading Lolita in Tehran, which was less appealing. But isn't it a bit strange that these 'great works' of the West provide the spiritual salavation of folks in Iran and China? Freaky. I suppose it's cultural stroking, which is why both books are so adored by the American literati. Well, that, and because the NYTimes review of books told us to read them.
