I really enjoyed this book. It's predictable and sentimental, but it's a sweet portrait of small-town life and people who have kind of forgotten what it means to interact with others. I especially liked the McPheron brothers, doubles of my favorite archetype--the gruff old man with a heart of gold. The writing itself is sparse but beautiful, and as freshman seminar as it sounds, really echoes the setting of the story. You should read it.
