Now, as much as I love the way Reza Aslan looks, I must say that his work is...well...it's been done before. He isn't saying anything new, and it's so obviously media-packaged and for the post-9/11 world, that it sometimes is very shallow in its scholarship. Nevertheless, it is a good read and a good book to give someone who is unfamiliar with Islam and Muslims and wants to learn more.
I have now read this book three times. I didn't think it was possible, but it gets even better each time I read it. The writing is captivating. Ralph's honesty and storytelling are gifts. This series is amazing. I'm so grateful that I was introduced to these books through homeschooling.
