Stolen Child left me thoroughly disappointed, feeling more like two disjointed, incomplete tales that shared only a superficial thread instead of interweaving narratives that built on each other. Aniday's journey held such promise, complete with what should have been a compelling supporting cast, but the changelings were squandered by slavishly following plot points so as to maintain a tenuous connection to Henry / Gustav's equally mundane plodding linear growth. It was best when struggling with meaning and myth but those moments were much too few and far between. I have the distinct feeling I'll have completely forgotten this before too long.

this book is beautiful. a story that reveals the negligence of the soul as we grow into adulthood and the importance of maintaining our creativity, imagination, and love for life - as we did when we were children.
