Stegner's style makes me savor every word; his characters complex and interesting. He is able to interconnect the past and the present with timely messages although written in the 70's. A bit of history of the settling of the West was fun; and a bit of eastern vs western attitude. This is a beautifully written story relevant to today. I loved it!
