Offers a look into the life of Catherine of Aragon and her unexpected marriage to he who would become Henry VIII. An interesting topic for history buffs, although not as strong a novel overall as other of Gregory's works.
Like Wicked, it took a bit to get into. Mostly because Gregory Maguire hardly ever comes right out with what's going on in the world of Oz. Also, like Wicked, I was hooked by about the middle of the book. Thankfully, Son of A Witch answers some big questions from Wicked. And Maquire does this without ever completely quenching my curiosity; he has a wonderful way of only showing what the characters see. Through Elphaba, there were many questions; lines were blurred both for her and for the reader. Through the unassuming Liir, some of those questions get answers and some of the fog is lifted. I can hardly wait to crack open A Lion Among Men.
