I'm now reading everything I can get my hands on by Madeleine L'Engle.

This is a very cute children's book. The bus driver ask the audience to watch the bus while he goes away. The pigeon hounds the audience to let him drive, but he gets the same reply of no. He uses everything he can think of to try and convince the audience to let him drive the bus. Great book for younger grades (K-2nd)
