i gave this book five stars mostly because of the essay regarding the illinois state fair, and the title essay-- where DFW embarks on a week long luxury cruise. these alone are worth reading the book for, and are hilarious and descriptive in ways i only wish my own essays could be. the rest is hit or miss-- his argument about fiction writers watching tv is long but interesting. his essay about david lynch is also long, and interesting, because i am fascinated and terrified of david lynch. the stuff about tennis is......okay. but i'm not into tennis.
