Asimov assumes little as he takes you step by step through the basic concepts required to understand the workings of sub-atomic particles. The material is somewhat dated, for today we have a more developed outline for the "Standard Model in Particle Phisics", check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard... including a clearer view of these ghost particles. However, if you have seen any of the current science programs on T.V. that detail the latest discoveries about neutrinos http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/neutrino/ and you wanted more background to the story as well as a guide to making sense to all this , this would be a good book to read. Another good book that helps to fill in some detail is his science essay collection "The left hand of the Electron"
I love this book, and re-read it about once a year. Good feminist utopia/dystopia stuff. Thanks, Women's Studies!
a cult classic. end of story.
