Great book....sad but uplifting at the same time. Ordinary people fighting back even though they knew what the outcome would probably be...Those people were heroes!!!!!

I'm currently reading this for a second time, that's how much I love it. It was my first Millet novel. I also quite like How the Dead Dream, but this is assuredly her best and most poignant. I have rarely been so affected by an author's words. This novel is a rarity. I've noticed in a majority of these reviews the readers didn't even finish the novel. I would say if you don't enjoy the first couple chapters thoroughly than Millet is not for you. If you're looking for a page-turner, this is not for you. I find myself reading entire sentences and paragraphs over and over again, and contemplating them as I would poetry. The characters are compelling and flawed. Oh Pure and Radiant Heart is a truly captivating novel that you will love if you give it the time.

You have to read this book quickly. If you put it down for awhile and think about it, you start to pick through all the plot holes. I thought it was great until I got busy and had to set it aside for a few days...then I thought about it...and about things that didn't make sense...and I liked it a lot less than I did before I put it down. So if you insist on reading it, set aside some time and try to read it all in one weekend.
