Very interesting. I remember seeing the movie before reading the book. I think the movie was much better.
I bought this book on a bargain shelf a while ago, so by the time I grabbed it off my shelf yesterday to read, I had no idea what it was going to be about. Aside from the fact that it feels like date rape is following me around, I enjoyed the book. The multiple narrators really illuminated how many lives one stupid choice can screw up. I think I would have liked it more if I didn't feel angry with myself for siding with the boys for much of the book. The image of a teen girl seducing a group of guys and then crying rape to get them into trouble (and herself out of it) made me cringe more than a little. I realize this is just one girl in one book, and a well-written one at that, but it just adds to the stereotype that women who are raped, or even minors who are coerced into statutory rape, are all asking for it.
