I'm not sure if this would be a part of the Travel Writing genre; this book chronicles the author's two years spent serving for the Peace Corps in a small town on the Yangzte River. Its pace is as moderate and beautiful as the river upon which it's set. Mr. Hessler's insights into a culture so far removed from his own Midwestern roots are never caustic or biting; instead he focuses on the personal relationships he makes (mostly with his students).

I thought I just needed something fun, and a little 'mindless...'. This certainly fit the bill, and had been recommended by a few friends. It was enjoyable for a while- in a sort of Desperate Housewives-" I can't believe I'm actually reading this novel" - sort of way.... And then I just couldn't take it anymore. I think I made it halfway through, maybe?? The 'mindlessness' became more crazy-making and braindamaging than anything. But to each her own, eh?

'Legacy Of Lies' was a delightful read! It sucked you in from the very beginning, drawing you slowly into the complicated secrets of Wisteria. The characters were diverse mix and anyone who reads it will be able to relate to one of them completely. It had, mystery, romance, comedy and all in all, a five star book! Also, 'Don't Tell' has equally the same excellent writing, but has a darker, more sinister feel about it. This also sucked me in from the very beginning! Elizabeth Chandler is an superb writer!

This is the only book you need for life. This is life's instruction manual. It will give you history, answers for EVERY issue of life, comfort in times of sorrow, encouragment, prophecy (only book with prophecies that all came true) and best of all the TRUTH of why we are here. This book is actually made of 66 books written by 40 authors over 1500 years!! It has stood the test of time. I encourage anyone to give it a try. Please do not knock it till you try it. And you dont have to start in the beginning. Try the book of John it is a great place to start.
