I'm not a big fan of Jodi Picoult. This book is too long, drags on and I guessed the ending half way through. The book does a pretty good job of introducing the concept of Asperger's syndrome to people who aren't familiar with it (Asperger's being on the Autism spectrum). However, Picoult is only depicting ONE child, and uses the traits most people generally associate with Autistic. If you judge all Aspies by what you read here, you will be completely misinformed. And the character is constantly described as "high functioning." He is not high functioning (living at home at age 18, his mom making only blue food on weds so he won't have a melt down, etc.) He is a pretty extreme case.
