If this is the golden age for the young adult fantasy novel, then surely this trilogy is the reigning champ. Don't be fooled, these are no kiddie books. Like Tolkien - a reader of any age will find plenty to chew on: innocence, experience, authority, religion and science. They are an antidote to the Narnia books - and combined, gave me one of the best reading experiences I've ever had.
