Those who love Trent will be very pleased with the book. There's a lot about our mysterious elf and his relationship with Rachel gets more complicated as she discovers more about him. And for those who dont like Trent...you might change your mind by the end of the book. There's lots of drama and adventure. Al and Newt make appearances and Rachel finally figures out what she is...There's not as much Ivy and in prior books, but they have good moments together. Jenks is as awesome as ever. And I can't wait to see what happens next in Rachel's world
**1/2 Mediocre, myopic post-apocalyptic novel. Altered solar radiation leads to mini-ice age in northern climates. England becomes arctic. We follow 3 upper middle-class Brits as they flee to Africa. In a nice touch, Christopher has these wealthy Brits becoming the servants and concubines of their formerly colonized Africans. Too much time is spent on the uninteresting relations of the 4 main characters (upper-class sexual meanderings: dull reading in the 21st century). Not enough (close to zero) world building (as in, how does one survive in the new arctic countries? What happens to everyone? What happens to animal & plant life?). In the final section, an African expedition on Hovercraft (another nice touch) explores the new frozen London. I recommend Wyndham’s “ The Day of the Triffids” for the ultimate post-apocalyptic London exploration.
Hola! this arthur knows what she is doing =) , A-MAZ-ING! amazing!
This is a book for the 12 year old faerie/fantasy lover. Not too much over the top stuff, but enough to keep it interesting. It is a quick read. I was totally drawn in by the first line in the book and had to know where the author was taking it, I was not blown away, but it was worth a read.
