This simple, but beautiful book tells the story of the creation of a community garden in Cleveland's innercity. It begins when a little Vietnamese girl decides to plant lima beans in an abandoned lot/junkyard. Each chapter has a different narrative, as one by one her neighbors join her; a British nurse, a Korean widow, a shopkeeper from Dehli, a pregnant teen from Mexico. As the neighbors work together they create a community as well as a garden.
