Absolutely loved it. Reminiscent of The Virgin Suicides in obvious ways (the neighborhood boys narrate in first person plural), but more accessible. I would have given it five stars except for one thing, which I won't discuss further because I don't want to spoil anything. I'm already itching to read it again and try to put it all together.
ok. i'm sure this will make me sound like an asshole, but i just wasn't as blown away by this book as everyone else seems to be. yes, it's amazing that the guy wrote it with one eyelid after a stroke. it's amazing he did anything. but, well, if that's the entire basis for being impressed by this book then there's not much left afterward. some insights. some memories. some french shit. whatever, it was good to read while waiting for things.
