such a good book! Jim Elliot's life was like akick-in he butt...challenging!
This was a really intriguing book for me. I have always loved the story of Alice in Wonderland and despite having an interest in history and biographies, I never looked into the inspiration behind the tale. This biography traced the life of Alice Liddell Hargreaves and her relationships with her family, friends, and the author known to many as Lewis Carroll. I will never look at the story of Alice in Wonderland the same again thanks to this book, and I think from now on I will look deeper into the story behind literary works because of it. Alice's opinions, personality, and life really come to life and the characters are great. Her mother, in particular, is especially well written. I felt pity for Liddell. In trying to immortalize her childhood she actually lost it sooner than she could have ever wanted. Also, a great read on Victorian culture and time period, as well as the effects of WWI, even though that portion of the book was very brief.
