I don't know that I've ever read any realist contemporary American fiction that so resists commentary. I loved that. And I loved the opening scene, and its close, with Norm and Martha and the opened can of dance wax. I loved how the book was elegiac, as time is elegiac, without ever seeming sentimental. I loved many of the minor characters too, and the pattern of circles that gives the book shape.

I loved this book! It is part of a series, which I read the first one of. I jumped ahead and read this one, I think it is the 5th in the series. It is very light, and so funny! Just having had a baby, a lot of things hit home. The main character in this book gets into so much trouble, just like "I Love Lucy". Highly recommended for a funny read!
