Young adult fiction that I get to review! And, surprisingly, it was really freaking good.
This book wasn't well-written. The characters explained their actions and those of others intead of letting the narrative build, the pacing was too quick, the book in general felt more like a stage play than a novel, and the sex scenes took place curiously nestled in sentences of dialog without a break. But despite all that, this was a likeable book. I liked the characters, I liked the general story, and I liked the strange, inevitable, out-of-time narration. In terms of dealing with war on a personal level, I would compare this book to Atonement, only fun to read.
