Lacks the smoothness and artistry of a professional writer. However, it is a painfully honest portrait of a man struggling within the confines of an ill mind. Four stars for its honesty and potential to help many people who may see themselves, or a loved one, in these pages.

While I enjoyed following the story line of Lord John's personal life, the main mystery of his father's death had me very confused. I didn't really know what was going on or how it came to the conclusion that it did. I also don't recall one time where they mention a "Brotherhood of the Blade". However, the story line regarding his relationship with Percy and the time spent in battle kept me interested enough to want to read the next in the series.
