I received this book from Goodreads Giveaways. When I started reading it, I was impressed and thought the author had promise as a writer. The more I read, the less impressed I became. It appears that the book is self-published. I have nothing against books being self-published. This book, however, needed a good editor and proof reader. There were so many typos and errors that they distracted me. I found the story disconnected. There were many events introduced into the story that hinted at some connection, but the book never explained the connection. This is the first book in a series, so perhaps more will be revealed further on. The characters could have used more development. They all seemed to be detached from emotional connection. When one of the main characters died, the group were quite unconcerned about it. There was more concern about vandalism to their motel room than to the death of their friend. I was wondering throughout the book what genre it was. Was it a mystery? A horror story? It wasn't until the very end of the book that I learned it falls under the auspices of 'Christian horror', whatever that means. I do think the author has promise. I'm sure his skills will improve as he gets more experience, and more so if he gets himself an editor and proof reader.
Well written with some beautiful, fun, disturbing language usage. But I didn't love it. I'm not even sure that I liked it.
