I didn't know I could care about Elvis so much until my mom and I visited Graceland (on a cross-country road trip that owed a lot to "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood") and subsequently read this book out loud to each other, alternately laughing and crying, for the remainder of the week. A truly riveting and very American story that will break your heart. PS: This is the only book my brother has ever finished, which is saying a lot, considering he's blind in one eye.
An important book with interesting insights into why people believe the unbelievable, but at times I felt like I was reading a text book. I'd recommend this book to anyone who want to better understand why bronze age religions still have such a strong hold on the minds of a large portion of their families and friends.
