The thing that I like most about David Sedaris is that he can talk about really real things and make them funny, but more importantly he can end it on such a sentimental note without being sappy. I love that he finds the irony in life and that he points out the beauty in it without being overdirect. That said...I loved the essay "In the Waiting Room"...oh man, I was almost choking I was laughing so hard.
