True to the title most of the book contains some extremely tasteless as in puke evoking, horrifying, voyeuristic and painfully disgusting trivia. So who can resist that? An example of one of the more shockingly gruesome lists, '10 least appealing dinner dates': No.10. IDI and SARAH AMIN in1999 "......Guests at the home of the Uganda’s president were treated to some unscheduled entertainment by their host one evening in August 1972,when between courses Amin suddenly vanished into the kitchen and returned with the frozen head of his commander in Chief, Brigadier Hussein.....” But there were some surprising facts like in the list of ‘10 alternative uses of Coca Cola’, and dark humor in ‘Twelve original observations made by condemned men’,No.2. ""Pretty soon you are going to see a baked Appel." – George Appel, murderer of puns and a New York Policeman, as he was strapped to the electric chair in 1928." A must read for the trivia junkie.
Didn't read this in high school, read it in college, and got ADDICTED to Vonnegut. I haven't kept the pace and read everything he's ever written, which is probably why I haven't suffered the Vonnegut burnout that a lot of fans seem to suffer. The story of Billy Pilgrim and the Dresden firebombing is, to me, war in all its absurdity and in sarcasm and irony, the last rational responses to such horror.
