Action packethrills,but a strange ending.
Widow of the South is a well-researched historical novel about Carrie McGavock, a not-so-well-known Southern lady who devoted her life to caring for the wounded and dead in her home-turned-hospital during the Civil War Battle of Franklin. This author's first novel, Robert Hicks is also the historian and driving force behind the restoration of the Carnton Plantation, the setting for the story. An excellent book for Civil War buffs and historical fiction fans.
