A great book. It was a bit sad at some parts but I remember adoring this book when I read it when I was about 13. It kind of hit home, though, and that's why I think I loved it so much.

** spoiler alert ** I have enjoyed the adventures of Lady Julia and the sexual tension between herself and Nicholas Brisbane. I have five stars here because I am SUCH A SUCKER for happily ever after, and was thrilled it actually happened. To borrow the Earl March's words, Brisbane finally declared himself. I also enjoyed the exploration of Brisbane's history, and while I had the mystery pretty much figured out, it didn't really detract from my enjoyment.
