A gripping story, well written and eloquent, horrifying and disturbing. How Jaycee Dugard managed to emerge from her ordeal with her mind intact is beyond me. Some details don't jive with news reports. (For example, the length of time her kidnapper spent in jail during her captivity. The book says one month; news stories said four months.) I didn't read the book to gather facts, but to read about survival under heartbreaking, hopeless, horrific circumstances. Dugard tells a compelling, thoughtful, mature, and intelligent story. Well worth the read.
